Marissa DeCuir

President and Partner

Thank you for your honesty and your unflinching integrity. Everything you shared with me was geared toward making me as fully knowledgeable as possible, rather than toward garnering a new client. It is rare these days to find people willing to conduct business with the sort of unwavering ethical standard you have displayed. I am incredibly grateful to you for that.” – Robert Steven Goldstein, author of Golda’s Hutch and other literary fiction

Named one of Publishers Weekly’s Star Watch Honorees, Marissa joined our umbrella company JKS Communications more than 15 years ago, and now oversees the day-to-day operation of both Books Fluent and our sister company Books Forward. A book industry trailblazer who understands publishing inside and out, Marissa provides executive leadership for Books Fluent and Books Forward, presiding over our production, creative planning and business decisions.

A former journalist with national exposure, her writing has appeared in USA Today, National Geographic and other major publications. She is now interviewed by media on best practices for book marketing. And this media experience brings a unique insight into book publishing and market-friendly book packaging.

Marissa is respected and adored by both our clients and our team for her encouraging, can-do approach, her warm personality and her detail-oriented management style. Born and bred in Louisiana, she’s currently living in New Orleans, but in the past decade has lived in and developed a strong base for our company in Chicago and Nashville.

Her leadership has cemented our company’s reputation for literary industry excellence, and enthusiastic, personalized support for our clients who partner with us.
